4 years, 4 books

I am really proud of the fact that I have been doing a photo-a-day for 4, going on 5 years. I love the blog interactions and sharing my life with friends. The next step beyond the blog is being able to save the posts and photos and comments into a more permanent form–books. Blurb.com is my preferred bookmaker. (This is an affiliate link. I get a small commission if you buy through this link.) They have great features including being able to slurp my blog posts, photos and comments and put them into a book automatically. (If you comment on the blog, you are recorded for posterity too!) Then, I just customize pages, make minor tweaks and am done. I love paging through the memories and having 4 full years of my life to continue to share!

A Photo a Day in 2012

Happy New Year, friends! The beginning of the year always brings about resolutions and wanting to try new things.

If you’re here cause you want to try a photo a day in 2012, good for you! Having done a photo a day for the last 4 years, I can testify to the joy, accomplishment and desire to want to document your life, job, food, people, pets, whatever it is! I also know, it is difficult, time consuming and can sometimes be driven by guilt. Don’t let those things stop you. Go for it! And when you miss a day, don’t sweat it. Just pick up your camera again and keep going where you left off. Give yourself grace—know that you will make mistakes, or forget, or not even want to do it.

But the persistence is worth it. I love looking back and seeing the people in my life. Seeing how the kids have grown and changed. Seeing God’s wonders in nature. And seeing how I have grown and changed and hopefully become a better photographer.

For me, I will continue to take a photo a day in 2012. And I am already behind. I think I will declare this first week a week of rest, and get going again this weekend. So come back again to see some new pictures. I don’t have any theme ideas for this year. If you have suggestions, leave it in the comments below. If you are starting up a photo a day, I will link to your site if you leave a comment! Go for it! It’s worth it!
