It’s done! Even though I was unsure of the color when we began, I just love it now. It is such a calming and restful room. You are welcome to visit anytime!

I hate that first bit of paint going on the walls. It freaks me out and I question whether we picked the right color or not.

Now that it’s on the walls though, I like it.

white room challenge

We are taking the holiday weekend to paint and update two rooms of our house. This room used to be a hobby room with a desk, small bed, table and John’s stereo. It’s never been painted. It will become a new guest room.

before and after

My mother-in-law was kind enough to help make the cornice above our sliding glass door about 5 years ago. She gave us leftover fabric and together we assembled and covered it. After 5 years, I was ready for a change. I found some new fabric (at a great bargain) and today we took apart the old one and put new fabric on it. I just love the new look and it completely changes our living room.

I’ll work on a new curtain for the window on the right, but I think it turned out great!

all is (not) calm

It may look calm on the outside, but it has been a little crazy here on the inside.

Photo note: 30 second exposure at f22. The snow looks a little yellow because of the street light behind the camera. And the lights in the windows are not that wonderful orange glow because we switched our lightbulbs to CFLs. :( Oh well.

I had to include this photo, cause I think it is so unusual. I fired the flash during the 30 second exposure to capture the snow blowing by. Made a cool effect.
